Happy Sunday (a.k.a. I’m A Mermaid Day)!!! Sooo…I guess you’re not THAT excited about “I’m A Mermaid Day” because…

…well, you’re NOT a mermaid!! Aaaand because well, it’s Sunday, which means…well, you know! It begins with a *w* and ends with a *k* (yeah, WORK and yeah, tomorrow)!

Don’t be jealous, though because I’m a mermaid (na-na na-na boo-boo) aaaand YOU’RE NOT (*sticks out tongue*)!! I have a shirt to prove it and all!! It reads: I’M A MERMAID!! I wear it to the gym!! I’d like to think I make an incredible amount of people jealous!! HEHE!

BELIEVE ME NOW (because I have the shirt to prove it)?! Well, if not, I DON’T CARE (na-na na-na boo-boo) because I AM, I AM, I AM!!! Hmmm…perhaps THE second “na-na na-na boo-boo” was too much??!!

 Image

Na-na na-na boo-boo…OR NOT!!! Who am I kidding…third time is ALWAYS the charm!!

Anyways, the reason I’m obsessed with being a mermaid is because…

I’M OBSESSED WITH GREAT WHITE SHARKS (aaaand…if I’m a mermaid, I can swim unda the sea with them ALL THE TIME you seeee + having a tail would JUST be super gnarly)!!!!

Okay, so although I’m pretty sure the movie Jaws instilled terror (of Great White Sharks) into the hearts of many, it had the complete opposite affect on me because duh, I’m flippin’ OBSESSED with them! Seriously though, aren’t they (just) the cutest sharks ever? Alright, maybe a little extreme, BUT (you have to admit, whether you’re scared of them or not) they ARE cooler than cool! No? Well, they are to me!!

ImageImage

Don’t frown on me (O-K?), but (I’m being serious here) MY DREAM is to go on a Great White Shark Expedition (in Australia and/or South Africa) and to go down in one of those shark cage things. Crazy? Maybe, but I promise you it WILL become a reality (within the next couple of years)!! I’ve been researching Great White Shark Expeditions for as long as I can remember, so I’m waaaay too obsessed with this idea NOT to do it!!! Seriously, I can’t WAIT to be nose to nose with this beautiful sea creature, mano a mano (you know, except I’ll be protected, behind bars).

To be completely honest, TV has totally given these phenomenal creatures a bad rap, but um, I still think Jaws is a super amazing movie!!

I mean, COME ON, how brilliant is John Williams (composer of the film’s score) and his two note DA DUM???!!! Totally BRILL(iant), right?!!

Image

ARE YOU SCARED OF GREAT WHITE SHARKS??!!

WOULD YOU EVER GO ON A GREAT WHITE SHARK EXPEDITION??!!

XOXOXOXO!!!

You may be right about sharks getting a bad rap but have you looked at one of those guys up close?? Most evil, cold and beady eyes! I got kinda up close and personal with one in Australia once but he was behind glass and I was walking in an underwater tunnel and I was still nervous. I love Jaws the movie too! You should give that shark cage a try. 🙂

Haha, I would love to give the shark cage a try! Hopefully I’ll make it happen within the next couple of years!
Aren’t those underwater tunnels cool?! Haha, I’ve been in one of those, too and it’s amazing to see all of the action underwater!!
And hehe, yes, I definitely think Jaws gave Great White Sharks a bad rap with the whole “vengeful, seeking out humans to eat them” thing. Not that I would be brave enough, but there have been lots of people swim with/around/by Great White Sharks (even touch them)! Amazing!!

Hehe Sarah, I definitely get it!! When I’m swimming in the ocean/during ocean races and I see something moving towards me (out of the corner of my eye), I definitely get chills because although I want to see them up close and personal, I certainly don’t want to end up in their mouth. Although I believe Great White Sharks are gentler than some people think, I realize swimming in the ocean (their territory) could bring an unpredictable outcome.

Oh, I totally understand where you’re coming from!! Just knowing their strength can evoke fear in itself!
There are so many beautiful creatures under the sea that I’d love to explore further, but I’ve always been obsessed with Great White Sharks!

Wow! That’s scary but exciting! I went snorkeling on a black tip reef shark feeding once in Bora Bora. They were only 5-6 feet long, but even at that size it was intimidating. Make sure that you take bunches of pictures on that vacation!

I think sharks are cool. I went to the Baltimore aquarium and saw tooth sharks are fascinating. I would not want to be eaten by one but I’d rather be with a. Shark than a snake who will eat me. I like the horse picture…I don’t go to the gym I’m one of those run outside or die gals except when i have Lilly….I want to swim with sea turtles…hahaha and I’m going to do a triathlon someday when I get over the water fear hahaha

Being a mermaid would be awesome (loooove Ariel)!

Sharks are such incredible creatures. My parents live in Naples, FL and we’ve come across many a shark during our swimming/tubing/fishing adventures 🙂 They still make me hesitant, but I think it’s really cool that you want to swim with sharks! You go girl!!

Thank you!!! Oh, that’s really cool!! I love tubing, swimming, and such!! Lots of fun for sure!! I think sharks are incredible, BUT I admit, I’ve been quite scared myself when I’ve seen fins pop up while in the ocean (even at a distance). It’s the unknown that’s a bit scary, but I do love admiring them!!
Thanks for your sweet comment and for your support!! XOXO!!!

Just part of the healing process. You help keep me smiling and optimistic every day! 🙂

I read something for migraines the other day that might help you (I haven’t tried it yet). Go put your hands AND feet in really cold water and put an ice pack (or a bag of veggies) on the back of your neck(lean over so that it can sit without you holding it). 🙂 Another thing that helps is peppermint oil on your temples. 🙂

      5. Kristin

Oh Lisa, thank you so much!!! Really nice tips and I will definitely try them out (today) because today, I’m not feeling the best either!! I’m glad I keep you smiling!! YAAAY!!! Hope you’re having a great day!!

I’m a mermaid! I’m in a Mardi Gras organization and we refer to our members as our mermaid sisters! I’m a marine biologist so it’s fitting I guess! 🙂 I don’t work with sharks but I do work with worms. You’d be amazed at the different types of worms that are in the ocean. Some of them would make for a good horror film. They are tiny but under a microscope they can look terrifying!

Hahaha, you’re nuts! You’re reminding me of 50 First Dates when the character keeps calling sharks the puppies of the sea – even though he keeps getting bit by them.
BTW, my wife is from Guam and her cousin had a job one summer there with a boat company dressing up as a mermaid and taking photos with Japanese tourists.

YOU ARE CRAZY!! I mean that with all the love in the world haha. I am PETRIFIED of sharks. Like really irrationally afraid of them. Plus I’m claustrophobic so being in a shark cage with a shark right there might give me a for real heart attack. You are a way braver woman than I!

Jaws is a great movie though. Total classic. 🙂
