Good morning everyone!! I hope you had an amusing weekend! Mine was nothing short of a yoking, a yoking of my yogi self. With all the yoga teacher training, I about fell out from tiredness transformation. We actually spent an entire day on yoga therapy which was pretty darn cool because (SURPRISE!) I wanna be a yoga therapist! I start school next year! Yay!

I’m in a pretty cheery mood today because #1, I ran…(and #2) outside. Can you believe it? I FINALLY ran OUTSIDE, as if I hadn’t run outside for a thousand years. It has felt like a thousand years. Maybe more. A month. Just a month. But… a month too long…

Yorktown9 (2)

Let me get emotional (for a bit) and tell you about my morning run. It was…(in a word) emotional. I ran on snow. I slipped on ice. I ran in the cold. I ran in the sunshine. I felt graceful. I felt lost. I felt found. I felt an explosion of fireworks inside my heart. It was magical. To be outside… to just… be outside…

Yorktown13 (2)

Honestly, I hadn’t been myself lately, well, not when it came to running. I’ve been frustrated. I’ve felt edgy and to be bold, I’ve despised running… inside the gym…on that small (small) track that felt more like a merry-go-round ride than a run. I’ve felt nauseous for an entire month.

My words of wisdom:

Nothing is permanent. Life is forever changing. The path you’re on now will zig-zag and throw fire balls at you, but don’t get discouraged. You can handle it. I can handle it. We can handle it. It’s the small breakthroughs in life that make it all worthwhile. It’s a view like this, that makes every run worthwhile. XOXO

HEY!!! Ugh, not more snow… 😦 Blah, well, just remember, “This too shall pass”. Sorry about the snow.
I really hope we don’t get anymore. Maybe Thursday, but it shouldn’t be much (hopefully).
Thanks for your sweetness. I wish you a wonderful week! XOXO

Thanks Melanie!! It is great to just get outside and run, even with no particular direction in mind. I did lots of u-turns due to ice, etc., but it still felt absolutely fabulous!! Have a wonderful week!! XOXO

i totally understand your love for running outside, and how difficult it can be to try to transition into indoor running — been living that myself the past few weeks, and cannot wait to get back out there now that NY’s February freeze is breaking a bit. thanks for sharing your ups and downs, and hope you have many more lovely outdoor runs to brighten your spirits!

That’s so interesting that you want to be a yoga therapist! It sounds like you really love what you’re doing which is always wonderful 🙂
Way to go on that run! I’ve been feeling icky and blah lately too and I really need to get outside soon and mix it up. This being stuck indoors can really suck some of the life out of us.

Nothing beats running outside! I know if I am pent up inside too long I start getting really crabby. One good run and everything seems to find itself back to good. Have a great week!

Such good sentiments here, Kristin! First of all, you’re going to be an AMAZING yoga therapist. I can see it now!! You’re so positive and encouraging…throw yoga in there and how could anyone not love you?

Thanks for owning up to your insecurities — I love that you shared that you slipped a few times outside. Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one who doesn’t have perfect outside runs during the winter so it’s refreshing to hear that it’s a struggle for others. Can’t wait until spring, am i right? What’s better than running past new life?? (Flowers, bushes, trees, moving bodies of water….I love it!)
